01Kern 01: a keyboard computer conceived as a focused working instrument.

Space to think.

Give a keyboard computer a complete identity: precise enough for a professional tool, warm enough to live on a desk, and recognisable from the casing to its interface.

Who it’s for

Developers, writers and researchers who value concentration and the feel of well-made tools.

The challenge

Technology branding often tries to communicate speed through excess. Here, the product should make a different promise: fewer interruptions and a more intentional working environment.

02The master wordmark and its shared diagonal construction.

Make the brand behave like a well-made instrument. Machined diagonals, a compact wordmark and a quiet horizontal rhythm connect the graphics to the enclosure. One cobalt accent identifies a moment of action without turning the whole object into a display.

Why Kern?

Kern is short, firm and typographic. It points to careful spacing and a concentrated core, which fit a product designed around attention.

03An exploration of the enclosure, serviceable modules and material details.
01

Typography as construction

The K and R share a cut; the open joins give the lettering the character of assembled components. The mark is quiet enough to engrave directly into the housing.

02

A restrained material vocabulary

Warm grey aluminium, cream keycaps and a single cobalt control make the object legible without a field of lights or badges.

03

The system continues on screen

Clear alignment and sparse colour connect the interface to the physical keyboard. Product presentation emphasises the working environment and construction, not spectacle.

04A complete desk experience, from tactile controls to the working interface.

An identity and product-design concept with a consistent material and digital language. Construction imagery illustrates design intent; it is not a validated engineering specification.

A fictional project created with AI and art-directed in the Notable studio. This is a curated concept study, not a client commission. The images illustrate a creative direction; editable identity assets and production preparation are separate steps.
